580exii better batteries for Cannon?

I have a Canon flash 580exii and hatred that even when I use the best batteries I can find there are still charges a few seconds before flash – maybe this is normal but I would like to know what are the best batteries (single use or rechargeable) for my flash. Thanks

Only checks and could see that the flash is 4 alkaline batteries for extended battery described below would be much better. For longer life, use the 2000mAh battery is described below. Not sure what battery type you are using, but the following work really well for me. These are new formula Duracell rechargeable NiMH batteries that hold a charge for a year when not in use. CAUTION Do not overload! Batteries can be damaged. Use an automatic two or more hours Energizer compact charger intelligent temperature control, trickle-charge technology, and the safety timer ($ 9.76) at Walmart. Use pre-loaded Duracell 2000mAh ($ 12.97) or Rayovac ($ 5.97) and a battery charging cycle (it has one year of loading). To preserve battery power, use the display. Never touch the ends of the battery or the camera electrical contacts. Oil from fingers can contaminate the contacts. Use batteries in pairs of the same brand and characteristics. Do not mix new and old. New, will only do as well as old. NiMH batteries must be recharged when the camera reports casualties. Used batteries can discharge over night, but may provide normal service immediately after charging. The battery is not usable in cameras can work well in flashlights pairs. Do not drop the batteries in a battery or allow voltage below one volt to prevent reverse polarity.
