Camcorder Camera
What kind of camera (camera) should I buy to shoot my low-budget film in the first place?

I'm about to buy a camera video and film-buget film some not;), but hey, should I can use Mini DV camcorder with a built in hard drive (HDD) or memory card … and why? And which brand is best? How much should I spend new or old? And my computer does not have a Firewire connection … and I have Vista Thanks to all how much I can move this question to some filmmakers who might read it?

If the computer does not have FireWire, consider buying a FireWire card installed to your computer, there is too expensive. I still go with MiniDV simply by the quality and broad support. Almost all editing software ever made compatible with DV, and quality beats all the rest modes. It's all about compression, you can read about the technical reasons. Do not worry much about the brand, think more about individual cameras based on features, designs used. All the big manufacturers do a good job, I have used Panasonic, Sony, Canon and JVC and has been happy with them. But again, look at the individual cameras. For example, a Panasonic model has a Firewire port inside the battery compartment, so you must use power from the wall if you want to use Firewire. Poor design there. However, other Panasonic cameras are excellent. Just find one that suits your needs at the best price. As for the amount to be spent, that's all up to you, and what is your budget and needs. Good luck!
