Nikon D90 – Canon Mount Lens?

I have the opportunity of aquiring a Sigma APO 70-200mm f2.8 EX DG Macro HSM Telephoto Zoom Lens with a Canon mount at a very good price, however, I have a Nikon D90.

I am wondering, can I get an adapter to suit??

You can buy an adapter to use a Nikon lens on a Canon FD or EOS mount camera but a web search found no Canon to Nikon adapter. One may exist but I think its unlikely due to Nikons small throat diameter of 44mm compared to the Canon’s 54mm. The flange to focal plane is also different, 46.5mm for the Nikon and 44mm for the Canon.

You might be able to cobble together an adapter of sorts by finding an M42 (screw mount) to Nikon adapter and an EF to M42 mount adapter for Canon. You’d likely lose infinity focus and you’d definitely have to use stop-down metering and manual focus.

In my opinion you’d be wise to pass on the opportunity to buy a non-compatible lens.
