Charger Adapter Sony

Charger Adapter Sony
Home made AC adapter. is this safe?

Im trying to power a DC set of fans (its a cooling device) that runs of a USB hub. I want it to run from the AC power from the wall.

The specs are 5v and 1.6W for the cooler.

This means I need 320mA (i think) ouput from an AC adapter (or can I go higher than this?)

I am intending to join the DC connector to an AC/DC adapter from an old home appliance. I can do this safely- I will join and insulate. I don’t think there is enough wattage to justify soldering the join.

I have a logitech charger that outputs 5.25V and 300mAH DC.
I have a sony ericsson charger that outputs 4.9V and 450mA

Which should I use?

I would go with the 4.9v charger – it has a bigger capacity. I would also solder wires where possible – better more reliable connection – solder on a proper plug and socket connecter – a screw on connecting block is a possible alternative. Hope you are only accessing the low voltage side of the charger – Don’t be tempted to touch the mains side of the transformer .
