Eos Lens Hood

Eos Lens Hood
What settings should I use to photograph the lunar eclipse?

I have a few decent photos of the lunar eclipse on Monday night and Tuesday morning. I have a Digital Slr (Eos Rebel XT), a tripod, a lens of 300 mm IS-100 and a hood so I think that is as far as teams go. I know the Moon moves across the sky in a pretty good clip. Is the lens image stabilization helps make up for this? What is the maximum exposure time should used to obtain sufficient light without the motion being a factor? Thank you.
