Len Hood Canon

Len Hood Canon
What accessories should I get for my Canon XTi?

I was wondering about filters or lens hood, what they are?

The hood is used to reduce glare. It also serves the purpose of protecting your lens filters can be used for different things. It really depends on what type of filter you are using. UV filters to block UV light. It is often used to protect the front element of the lens. They may be left on the lens at all times. Only make sure you buy a good one. They are really cheap though. Circular Polarizers are used to improve the blue sky and reduce glare from water or glass. Very good to take photographs of landscapes. These can not be left in the camera however. Neutral density filters are used to prolong exposure. They are basically like sunglasses for your lens. No change colors, simply blocking the light that gives the slower shutter speed one. Split Neutral density filters that do the same regular but are split. Half of the filter is clear glass. The other half is an ND filter. These are good when the sky is very bright. This allows you to expose in the sky while holding the exhibition on the rest of the image. ND and ND filters are divided in different concentrations and can be combined if necessary. There is a lot of other filters, but in most cases you will not need them. Color filters were good when using film, but not really necessary with digital. There are filters special effects you can try later if you like, but again are very easy to do in Photoshop as well.
