Lens Hood Petal

Lens Hood Petal
Confusion lens hood?

I have a Canon 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 for my Rebel Xti and was looking to buy the hood for it, which supplied the canon is the EW-78D. However, I would like to avoid paying the premium to charge fees (like $ 40) for this 3-ounce pieces of plastic petal and buy a generic drug instead of one. I have not been able to find a reasonable priced generic version but have come through the EW-78B II, which is designed to fit the canon 28-135mm IS. The question now: 78 in the model name means that this campaign is 78 mm in diameter, and if so it fits my 28-200? The 78B appears to be slightly larger than the 78D and I wonder if that's the only difference.

78 has nothing to do with an object, the size of the filter, since the 28-200mm has a 72mm front thread. The Canon 28-135mm has aa 72-mm front element, too. lenshoods are likely to be mounted on any lens, but the EW-78D, because is extra long, will improve coverage of 135-200mm. Your best bet is to go to a local camera store and try the hood of existence.
