Lens Kit Canon
Get new Canon 400D (XTi) with kit lens and 10-year-old 50mm 1.8, 28-105 USM zoom 1:3.5-4.5. Need 17-85 IS zoom?

Do you have a Canon 400D (Rebel Xti) with kit lens since she was 3 before going DSLR Canon Sony digitial camera for 6 years and have several objectives are not being used more a 380 EX flash with E-TTL. My goal is a 10-year-old first positive lens 50mm 1:1.8 a 10-year-old 28-105 1:3.5-4.5 USM zoom to work with the 400D. I am using the camera for general photography – parties, landscapes, events (parades non-sports), city shots, Christmas decorations, etc. Do I have to purchase a zoom or other lens with IS and Canon EF-S 17-85 4-5.6 IS USM or 28-135 IS USM 3,5-5,6? Are these old lenses better than the kit lens? 380EX flash is enough good or that I have yet to buy the 430 EX?

I have the 28-135 IS lens and I love it. The kit lens is decent for wide angle shots. The 17-85 is infinitely better but it costs $ $ $. The wider the target is only 10-22mm, which is about $ 680. My only suggestion is to test what we have for now and upgrade if is a necessity. The 380EX can meet your needs, then, may not again. I have a 580 which to me is a total surplus, since I rarely shoot indoors. Do not miss money and buy something you may not need. You may be better off getting a telephoto lens rather than the 28-135. Reallize begin what your limitations are and where you want to upgrade. It's a learning process. (From experience, I know I need a macro lens.) Good luck and enjoy it!
