In defense of violence as a survival Latest

Since the events of 9 / 11 that have been bombarded with scenes of violence. Terrorist attacks wars back-to-back "and the war on terror have given the news channels 24 hours with an unlimited number of images to fill their screens. New warnings and color-coded alert levels only increase the atmosphere of fear.Just when we thought we'd seen it all, things reached a saturation point with video images of innocent contractors beheaded by masked gunmen in Iraq.

As someone whose life work is to teach people to use correctly violence as a survival tool, it really saddens me to see the fear-based responses to many people that this relentless assault on our senses. Not no need for this to happen to you! If you study this taboo subject with me for just a bit, I think you will find they are not as powerless as you might think about what respect to violence. More importantly, actively learn how violence can be regarded as living a quiet and peaceful, and no hostages the emotional swings of fear random media barrage loves you.

Violence – a Different View

In our culture, violence is seen as evil and those who advocate its use in any way be seen somehow as a "criminal." Unfortunately, this stigma has worked very well for one group in society – to predators. Look at it this way: if someone grabbed a butcher knife from his kitchen drawer, then went out and stabbed the first person they saw in the neck (killing in the process), I think we would all agree that was a horrible criminal act and should be punished full extent of the law.

But what about the situation in which an attacker, wielding a gun, breaks into your house and you are capable of intercepting an attempt to raise stairs (where his wife and family are sleeping). Everyone understands their willingness to fight in this case. And if, during the fight, grabbed a knife to her Butcher and stabbed the bully on the side of the neck (again, killing him) before he could use his weapon against you or your family, then most all, and society in general, to applaud their courage and determination to protect their loved ones.

Here's the thing: that all judgments about of the form 2 knife in hand acts just described – based on the facts surrounding. The first was a murder without provocation, and the second a justified act of self-defense. But now I'd like to change their approach, to see acts through a completely different lens. I want to be judge did not act in place only to see them objectively. When you step back and see them in this way you'll see something more – Both were a success! The violence used (butcher knife to one side of the neck) worked perfectly in each case. The murderer in the first stage was the "success" as the guard in the second.

A classic mistake

Here's the point: if you change your perspective and see violence as just one tool – one that is neither good or bad – then you can separately evaluate the facts surrounding. Why do this? Because it is the first crucial step in eliminating unnecessary fear of your life!

People often confuse "using a tool with the tool yes. Take violence, for example. The fact that we see someone using violence on another human being does not mean we have to fear that he or she. Any person is able to use this "tool." All it takes is one thing: the intention. That's it.

Sure, the company has fought hard to make Faced with the existence of violence with many people today simply choosing to ignore completely (big mistake). While we all agree that violence is rarely response in any situation, here is what I challenge you to consider …

When violence is the answer … It is not the only answer!

I realize this is inconvenient for many, even you will. Everyone has no problem discussing a wide range of inappropriate uses of violence as beheadings above. It is easy to condemn these acts of brutal, unnecessary. However, to rule out violence as a viable tool, to accept without question which has no valid place in his life, is always exposed to the risk of being on the receiving end of violence in a real confrontation, life or death.

Here are the facts. Besides the people, speak and train many business groups worldwide. The theme of many of these talks and seminars is using violence and understanding as their ultimate survival tool. I agree with these CEOs and other successful professionals that my typical client base consists of a '70 / 30 'relationship ie, 70% of my clients seek out only after asocial violence has entered their lives!

And those who are victims of actual violence all have the same story: "I live in a great neighborhood, a gated community. My friends and I have never been in fights or even exposed to violence of any kind. Etc, etc. etc. .. Then comes the 'but', 'That's when I say how the unthinkable happened: asocial violence happened to them – and they were not preparations.

Not only are prepared for violence, most refused to acknowledge its existence. The results are usually devastating and often non-repairable. It is very difficult to help someone overcome violence asocial. The psychological scars are too deep.

It's much better when people are this training before of that experience. Then they are educated about violence and know how to use it as a survival tool. More importantly, this knowledge allows them to make better decisions in their daily lives life to minimize unnecessary exposure to avoidable violence.

The price of being unprepared

Let me give an example. A man finally attended a live training after me for over 3 years. He was a great success, someone who claimed, but never found the time to attend self defense training. Finally, I had done in. While there was no indication of a problem, it was a disappointment incredible! I mean, here he was in his early 40s and in incredible physical shape still showing little enthusiasm for training, although they had shown enthusiasm for attending more than 3 years. Since I was just going through the motions before noon on the second day I had decided to give you a refund and invite him back when he could put more effort into training.

While this training deals with the use of violence in a situation of life or death is, by design, a lot of fun with great energy and people who do not put effort in training should be removed to protect the learning dynamics for the rest of the class. When I went to my office at lunch break, I was surprised by a phone call. She was the wife of this man! As I listened, she coyly asked how he was doing. I informed him of the situation and my decision to return their registration. She asked me to reconsider and then explains horrible story.

Apparently they had been victims of a home invasion six months before the training. It was not the typical man of origin invasion.Four in balaclavas with automatic weapons appeared in his bedroom a night. As man got out of bed froze, realizing he had no idea what to do about that group (which is why it always takes and train multiple attackers). It was quickly stop the gun touched by an attacker, then expert Hog-Tied with tape on the other.

With blood streaming down his forehead was forced to watch (with her hair violently backward to make sure that he could not look the other way) as another attacker raped his wife. The assailants spoke only Spanish during the assault and seemed really upset because the couple did not understand. Since the couple was gagged and was not able to explain who spoke no Spanish. It was over in an instant. Later, the police are perplexed because this couple had no known enemies. Even stranger: it was taken from the house! The husband was a successful businessman who had just sold his company hundreds of millions of dollars. Throughout his career he had never had a legal problem of any kind – not even a parking ticket. The house was a new house in an upscale neighborhood.

It was three weeks before police discovered the truth: the attackers had reached the wrong house! A drug dealer lived 3 houses down. The squad of thugs in South America who were sent to send a "message" in a dispute with a rival dealer, had blundered. Now did not matter. This client is blamed for the freezing in the face of asocial violence and in the absence of his wife in the process. Shame and guilt gnaws at him.

How Ensure violence minimizes their life

So I ask, 'How could any training have helped in this situation? "I do not know if it is limited to a typical martial arts or self-defense course. The results would probably be the same. Only by learning to use violence as a survival tool would it have been better prepared to keep going asocial violence in their lives, and to deal with when he did.

The approach of self-defense called for in this Article means learning to use a method, based on principles of close combat training designed for hand use in situations where they must fight for his life during an attack inevitable, violent asocial (not responding with violence just maimed, crippled or dead). Everything in this defense approach staff is preparing for a worst case scenario. However, the real benefit is to realize you do not want to get to that point! People trained in this way take extraordinary measures to make it more difficult to asocial violence into their lives. They understand the violence is a fact of life and if they allow offenders the opportunity see them as easy targets, they become just that.

The failure of positive thinking

Back to my story, this couple had moved to new home soon. WAN security system is not activated. They wanted a dog (the number one deterrent to attacks from home), but had not had time to get one. And worst of all, it had not closed the doors front and back, mistakenly believing they were safe in a gated community with a police car.

That night proved fatal otherwise. They may have gotten away with these serious errors in personal security is associated random violence did not happen. Never in a million years this couple considered that it would be mistaken for a rival drug dealer in a dispute over money. However, I have heard this story every day, because most of us are still to view violence as "Criminal" – instead of a tool that can save our life in a violent confrontation.

How can ensure trained that will not happen again, but never take away the rape or physical trauma, nor can undo the psychological damage has been done. That's why we are actively seeking the other "30 percent!

What can you do now? Start by changing your point of view of violence. See it for what it is – neither good nor bad. Only tool that, if you ever need it, always there to serve you in a worst case situation.
