Is the Nikon Coolpix S220 Digital Camera compared to a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15?

I have an HP 6.2 megapixel camera is 4 years I've always liked, and sufficient, but I want to get something a little better or more recent. I saw the Nikon CoolPix the Walmart website and it is only about $ 120. I have no experience with Nikon, but a friend of mine has a Panasonic Lumix works pretty well. The Nikon's 10MP, and 12MP Panasonic, so perhaps this is the main difference? Thanks in advance.

I'd give the edge to the Panasonic. The zoom range is 5 times that Panasonic is better than the Nikon 3x. This means that you will receive an injection wider wide angle (29mm vs 35mm) and higher magnification in the telephoto as well (145 mm versus 105 mm). The Panasonic uses both optical and digital stabilization image, while the Nikon uses only digital (the cheapest and least effective form of image stabilization) 12MP vs. 10MP makes practically no difference in so all is not important. Both have about a 1 second shutter lag which means that the camera does not take a picture of almost one seconds after pressing the shutter button. OK for snapshots posed, but a deal breaker if you are trying to capture a fleeting image. The Nikon has more slightly poorer image quality of the Panasonic and not due to the number of pixels, is due to reduced processing of the image. BTW MP rarely have to use as reference for image quality. Most 5MP Digital Slr that will blow a 12MP point and shoot camera. But what is important to you is probably image quality 4×6 "prints and the computer the most viewed. Both will be entirely appropriate for it. If it were me, and I had to choose between them, I would for despite the fact that Panasonic is about $ 50 more.
