What if I put my coat of feathers on the top-loader with an agitator?

I have to wash my coat of feathers and is disgusting, it's label says dry clean, but whenever I can get it back from the cleaners, it is still dirty … I know I can clean myself without problems, if not completely? I clean, as there are spots, so fluff and what is quite smell are not on the top of my list … Is handwashing with soap surface safe for feathers?

A top-loading washing machine agitator break the teeth of the feathers. Wash once, but probably will not ruin damage feathers. Not to mention the feathers cluster in the corners of the seam. You will have to rearrange the filling and allow to dry before fluffing the feathers in place. So in everything we do not recommend a top-loader. However, a front-loading washing machine will be safer (though still not recommended), and that's what that used in dry cleaning.
